Vision and Mission
The International Club of Ascites is dedicated to improving the understanding and management of ascites and its related complications. It works to establish clear and consistent medical terminology, develop expert guidelines for patient care, and support collaborative research across institutions.
The main purposes of the International Club of Ascites are:
Clinical Terminology and Definitions
To develop a precise terminology regarding diagnosis, pathophysiology and therapy of ascites andits complications, including acute kidney injury, hepatorenal syndrome, spontaneous bacterialperitonitis, sepsis and cirrhotic cardiomyopathy;
Consensus Development
To develop consensus recommendations for the management of ascites and its complications;
Promote multicenter Research Projects
To promote and support multicenter research projects focused on the complications of cirrhosis;
Scientific Collaboration and Education
To organize scientific meetings that bring together investigators and clinicians with a sharedinterest in the study and treatment of ascites, hepatorenal syndrome, infections, and othercomplications in patients with decompensated cirrhosis
